Mandarin Jam

 

 

This is very easy homemade mandarin jam,
specially on this mandarin season,
 easy to get delicious and juicy mandarins,
and with simple ingredients.

This mandarin jam,
you can use on the your baking, breakfast, and with yogurt.

 

 

Ingredients 

Mandarin pulp 1L *
*Approx 800g - 1kg mandarins
Lemon juice 60ml
Brown sugar 350g **
**Can use white sugar,
color of jam will be more light

Peel mandarins and remove pith and any seeds 

 

Place the mandarins into blender jar
and blend on medium speed for 15 seconds
or until mandarins become pulpy

 

Pour pulp in a saucepan,
and bring to the boil over medium high heat
And remove the foam 


Add brown sugar and lemon juice,
cook on medium low heat until jam is complete,
it takes about 40 minutes.

On the last 10 minutes of cooking time,
start to testing jam on a cold plate
or cold spoon see if jam is set.

 

3 Easy Ways to Test Jam

1-  Spoon a small amount of jam into a cold plate
using finger touch jam, the texture is just like jelly.

2-  Spoon a small amount of jam into a cold plate
turn the plate , see if jam is runny.

3- Drop jam in cold water to check the jam,
 see if it's spreading

 

Remove from the heat
and let it set for 10 minutes
and then pour into the warm sterilized jars ,
and place the lids on and set aside until cool,  
store in fridge or cool and dry place.

If you want to store more longer,
after place the lids on
and using water bath about 20 minutes,
and set aside until cool,
 and store in fridge or cool and dry place.

 

*Sterilize  jars

Place the jar into the water and boil for 10 minutes.
And then put jars  in the oven 110°C /230° F
for 10 minutes before use
You can skip this step if your jam will finish soon
**Pay attention if your jar is safe in the oven**
